2FA for Global Admins

February 10, 2019, Written by 0 comment

So you finally have every bit of data and all those pesky emails sorted out and migrated up to the cloud, hooray! Time to kick back and pop the top on a cold one with the boys, or is it?

For most IT admins the idea of moving the cloud conjures up images of little pink slips of paper and reservation emails for your farewell luncheon, but that doesn’t have to be the case! Microsoft has given us a chance to grow and do some exciting things now that we don’t have to spend countless hours baby sitting servers each month for maintenance routines and hardware issues and upgrades. The cloud equals an opportunity to really advance your career, if you want it to.

The easiest way to see the first vision of pink slips come true however is to let your account as a global admin get compromised in your Office 365 tenant! 2 Factor Authentication is an easy to implement safe guard for a select few users who have the ultimate control over your entire organization. 2FA does require you to use your cell phone to get codes every time you close and then reopen your Office 365 site.

As admins of this resource we are charged with keeping the information correct, secure, and deliverable 24/7/365. To minimize risk to the company, downtime for users, and potential data loss to hackers, requiring that your admins use 2FA should be something to implement as part of the job duties and requirements to keep everyone and everything safe and sound!
